nbspDistrict 8 members began their morning being alerted to the normal bells and smells on campus. Members ran two commercial fire alarms on campus and cleared within thirty minutes of both. On Thursday evening members were participating in training when another fire alarm was dispatched at a local apartment complex. 822 and 848 responded and found nothing showing from exterior and same was caused to be set off from faulty smoke detectors. While currently operating on scene of the fire alarm two members noticed a strong odor of natural gas coming from the Campus Grill at the Corner of Marshbanks and Leslie Campbell Ave. 848 and 822 responded and found the odor to be caused from the pilot light become unlit at the grill which caused the odor in the adjacent Short Stop. Members worked diligently to shut off the meter as well as ventilate the structure. While units were wrapping up tones were dropped for an MVA rollover on Leslie Campbell Ave. 822s crew and 851 responded and found one vehicle off the roadway overturned. 822 was positioned for a safe work environment while crews checked for injuries. Thankfully there were no injuries. Around 0600 the next morning District 8 was dispatched to assist District 9 with a residential structure fire. Crews assisted in fire suppression as well as overhaul. While operating on scene District 9 was dispatched to a Commercial Structure fire in their district and requested 842s crew to respond. Crews responded to the fire and found the same to be in Northwest Harnetts district. 842 arrived on scene to find a storage facility of chicken waste with smoke showing. Crews assisted in putting the fire out and the scene was turned over to Northwest Harnett. Thank you to all the members who responded to the calls the past few days
