To all of our members and any others who show interest. Although we understand the logic of proposed changes which would require continuing education to maintain Pro Qual Standards and attempt to ensure that firefighters obtain additional training to enhance their certifications, we stand against a NFPA guideline that would require us to have to obtain a mandated amount of training for any period of time in order to keep our certification numbers. Please go to the following link and provide your input against this measure. This draft will hurt the volunteer fire service in requiring dedicated volunteers to have to obtain certain required topics when they are already doing it, consider the folks that get on and get certified then have to move to a knee location but have to wait a few years to get back onto a department due to there not being any open roster spots.
