Buies Creek Fire Department

“Only you can Prevent Forest Fires”while this evening was not a forest fire, it could have easily became one. We were dispatched to the area of Thornton’s Creek Road in reference to a grass fire. Upon arrival of our crews, we were faced with a 15 acre field fire threatening 11 structures. With dry fuels (straw), low humidity, and high winds contributed to the spread of the fire. Always remember to watch while you burn and ensure conditions are right to do so, and have an extinguishment source nearby. Fortunately, the fire did not reach any structures, and there were no injuries. Special thanks to @Erwin Fire Rescue, Coats Grove Fire Rescue, Inc. N.C. Forest Service, and Harnett County Communications.

Units on location: 800,821,822,842,862,871,881,ATV-8, 543,671,Forestry 2,3.
